PHP + MySQL

PHP is a standard website programming language which is widely used. MySQL is a database which is also widely used and goes well with PHP. The best thing about them is that they are FREE! They are “open source” which means they are built and developed by people who use them and don’t mind making them better for everyone’s benefit. The great advantage of this is that they basically have development teams of thousands and aren’t tied up to big businesses which have their own agendas.

Good news for you and me as I know how to use them and you don’t have to pay extra costs for databases or web servers.

These are kind of the building blocks of most of what I do. Wordpress blogs are created using PHP and MySQL and the really clever stuff I did with Puffbox and Google maps uses PHP and MySQL to get information from a database and put it on the maps.
